After less than a week at home we were traveling again...this time on a road trip to Southern Chile.
Jeff had been to Puerto Montt in May 2014 and really liked the volcanos, clean air, etc.
Woohoo! Real highways.
That still makes me giddy.
We stopped in Chillan the first night...the town was eh, unimpressive but the passion fruit Pisco Sour I had at dinner was sublime. Best Pisco Sour I've ever had!
We saw many people transporting their mattresses...?
View down from our hotel room in Pucon.
These were extremely loud and wandered around the property.
We'd never seen this bird before in Chile.
View up from our hotel room.
The hotel had a spectacular hedge!
Volcano!
Sighted from the shore of Lake Villarica.
What the shore looks like.
Shortly after this photo was taken Megan took a hard tumble and hurt her wrist.
Poor kid.
Since Megan had a gimpy wrist we skipped anything more challenging and drove up to see the volcano.
Look!
Little puff of smoke at the top!
Yes, it is still active.
The forest on the lower parts of the volcano.
Yes, you can ski the volcano in the Winter.
You can also climb it if ice climbing is your sort of thing.
Nothing is open this time of year.
Looking down towards the lake.
More wild trees on the way down.
