If you look at a map of Rapa Nui you'll see minimal roads but they get you to the Moai.

Here be petroglyphs (and no other tourists)
The information board is a little worse for wear from the weather...

One of the missionaries in the 20th century went around numbering all his findings.
The markings still remain.
