I am not usually a beach person but I adored Anakena.
I took a lot of photos.
(We visited twice.)
You have been warned.
After the Moai fell the sand covered them over time so they were not exposed to the elements.
The details are much more apparent -- long fingernails and this one still has a bellybutton!
If you look at the middle of the Ahu (platform) you can see a re-purposed Moai head.

The second time we went I had a Mango Pisco Sour.
It was tasty but not as tasty as the Pineapple Pisco Sour I had on the first visit.
The only sandy beach on the island is at Anakena -- or so we were told.
