Rome: The Vatican

It was raining like crazy when we woke up on Monday so we decided, despite being warned against it, to go to the Vatican. Mondays are always busy at the Vatican because most of the other museums and sites are closed on Mondays. We did buy our tickets online -- it is worth the extra 4 euro per ticket because it saved us at least 1.5 hours standing in line with hordes of tourists.

Of course, we didn't realize there were hordes of tourists already inside.
It really wasn't a very pleasant museum experience because of the masses of people involved.
The collections are impressive.
But have to say that for overall experience I think I prefer the Hermitage.

After breaking free from the museum headed over to see St. Peter's.

This was part of the line to get in:

We skipped it.

  1. You want to see hordes go in July like we did! Actually, we had the tickets and got in when it opened, so early in the day it wasn't bad. But we were there for hours and hours so it did fill up. We exited the Vatican to St. Peter's so no line.
