Most tourists visit El Tatio on a tour...tours depart San Pedro at 4:00am so that you arrive at the geysers about 6:00am when you get the full effect of the steam in the cold air and the dramatic landscape as the sun rises.
We however were feeling rather lazy and had no interest at getting up at a ridiculous hour only to fight crowds of tourists in the semi-darkness.
We left at 10:00am and arrived at about 12:30pm after seeing some stunning sights.
