So, we had great success with taking Lucy off the street and finding her a new home.
We still see her regularly -- she's happy and has her forever family completely trained to service her whims.
We did not have as much luck with Curly.
He showed up on the street and would walk with us when we took Ennis out.
Then one night we found him in our yard?!?
He found a small hole in the fence and used it as an entrance.
He was very very skittish and we spent weeks trying to convince him that he really wanted to chill out and have us find him a forever family.
We think he was a full-blooded Shiba Inu...he was gorgeous.
Unfortunately, we experienced an earthquake which completely spooked him and one morning he went off on walk-about and has not returned.
We haven't seen him along any of his usual routes so we hope that someone else decided to adopt him and not let him roam.
Then last week we found this little guy cowering outside our gate, completely spooked by the cars going by. Jeff had noticed him around a couple days earlier and figured he'd been dumped.
We have named him Leroy.
Unlike Curly, Leroy is completely with the program of becoming a family dog.
The vet estimates he's about 8 months old and a mutt though he definitely has terrier in him.
He's goofy and a spaz and loving although a bit fearful of men.
He goes tomorrow to be 'fixed' and then we need to work on some training because he is out of control with enthusiasm at times.
Then he will need a new home.
Ennis is tolerating his presence.
They are still sorting out dominance issues and have to be separated for meals since they are crabby with each other around food.
